As soon as you release a new version of your library, you should take a snapshot of its API and then, with every new build, compare the actual state of the API with that snapshot. Nothing should be missing and there should be no incompatible changes. The other aspect to check is that there are no accidental changes. As pointed out in the section Organizing Reviews Before Committing Code, the last thing you want is to find that random accidental API changes have sneaked into your API. If they do sneak in at the wrong moment, you need to sustain them in future releases in a compatible way. That is why you need to generate changes on a daily basis, against those from the previous day, and make sure that the differences are sensible.
